I've been lucky in my travels. Since my childhood, I've had the opportunity to travel all around the United States. Whether it was the forward-thinking of my parents, or the work-related journeys at Villanova, the Champions Tour, and US Interactive, or just my own wanderlust, I've put together a couple lists that quickly summarize some of the places I've been (and sometimes refer to).
DAYS SPENT ON THE ROAD BY YEAR
Beginning at the start of my "professional" life in 1984 --
1984 = 14
1985 = 13
1986 = 26
1987 = 41
1988 = 75
1989 = 59
1990 = 76
1991 = 75
1992 = 57
1993 = 65
1994 = 61
1995 = 92
1996 = 94
THE STATES TO DATE
In order to qualify, I must have spent at least one full day in the State (or country). As of 9/4/98, I've got 18 states to go to hit all 50 (the Dakotas seem to be the toughest). The order of this list reflects the order in which I actually spent time in each state first. I've got lots more travel to do (I hope!).[Favorites in bold]
New Jersey (my birth state)
Pennsylvania (residence since 1980)
New York
Delaware
Maryland
Virginia
North Carolina
South Carolina
Georgia
Florida
Connecticut
Rhode Island
Massachusetts
New Hampshire
Maine
Ohio
Tennessee
Alabama
Indiana
Illinois
Oklahoma
Utah
California
Oregon
Louisiana
Vermont
Hawaii (remind me to tell you about that nightmare sometime)
Arizona
Alaska (in the winter!)
Washington
Texas
Nevada
Outside USA
Bermuda
Canada
The Bahamas
Tokyo, Japan
Baseball Ball Parks I've Visited (and When).
Of course, most of my travels from 1980-1996 involved sports in some capacity, so I can't quite count all the stadiums and arenas that I've spent my days in -- however, I can qualify the Major League Baseball parks I've visited over the years.
Veteran's Stadium, Philadelpha (first visit in 1972)
Fenway Park, Boston (1973)
Yankee Stadium, New York (1976 & 1977)
Memorial Stadium, Baltimore (1986-1991)
Municipal Stadium, Cleveland (Father's Day 1988)
Candlestick Park, San Francisco (2x in 1991)
Oakland Colisseum, Oakland (1991)
Oriole Park at Camden Yard, Baltimore (1992-1994, 1998)
Fulton County Stadium, Atlanta (2x in 1993)
Wrigley Field, Chicago (1994)
New Commiskey Park, Chicago (1994-same day as Wrigley)
Tokyo Dome, Tokyo Japan (MLB/Japan All-Stars, 1996)
and I've also visited two other NBA arenas for NBA games on my own...
Key Arena, Seattle (1995)
Meadowlands, New Jersey (1983 NBA All-Star Game)
and three minor league baseball parks...
Tinker Field, Orlando, FL (1984, Twins vs. Astros)
Waterfront Park, Trenton, NJ (1996, 1997)
County Stadium, Reading, PA (1997).
And finally, the silliest DeLorenzo Travelling Statistic of them all. The legendary Nike Wimbledon sneakers I bought in 1984 that I decided would touch as many major bodies of water as I could walk into ankle-deep. It's a long, crazy story, and I haven't done it since 1994, but here's the list of "waters" the sneakers and I visited in 10 years of travels...
The Atlantic Ocean (Long Beach Island, NJ)
The Pacific Ocean (at Devil's Elbow, Oregon)
The Mississippi River (New Orleans)
The Great Salt Lake (outside Provo/Salt Lake City, Utah)
The Gulf of Mexico (Venice, FL)
The Delaware River (New Hope, PA)
The Schuylkill River (Valley Forge, PA)
The Columbia River (Bend, OR)
The Caribbean Sea (Grand Bahama Island)
Lake Michigan (Chicago, IL).
